Oh my god guys, hi. Talk about lack o' updates. It's been a fucking busy summer for me. I've been sewing project to project and not really taking time off for anything else, save some concerts and some swing dancing.

My home renaissance festival starts up next(!!!) weekend, so I've been sewing my fingers off for that. I did manage to finish that hemp corded corset and I love it super hard. It is so cute and comfy. I also made a slew of velvet tights and am starting on the "Pink Fuck-off" kirtle. It's also super cute. After the first weekend or two, when things have settled down a little, I'll (finally) get around to posting pictures of the stuff I've been working on. I have between seven and ten dresses to post, not to mention all the garb I've been working on lately. fuh.

Also, who hates those accounts that basically exist to fave everything in your gallery without commenting on anything? This kid right here. :P I wish they had an option to make people not fave anything.

Anyway, I'm alive, and sewing my fingers off!

Don't Look Now, But I Lost My Shoe.

Oh man. Ignore that massive whine that was the previous journal. Sorry for the angst there, folks.

Things have been since straightened out on the idea front (the work front still sucks), and I've started dying/planning/what-have-you.

One thing I believe I'm going to attempt this year is a hemp corded corset. Now, they usually never show, so I'm obviously going for one with hip control (I like the way they feel better than those that stop at the waist), but I can't decide whether I want to do my Elizabethan/Victorian hybrid, or if I should go with a corded effigy.

I'm leaning towards the effigy, just because it's more period. And has less seaming than my hybrid, therefore easier to cord. I'm also trying to decide whether I want a curved front to emulate the lower classes and allow the kirtle to do the rest of the squishing, or if I'll just make the damn thing straight.

Decisions decisions.

Devious Journal Entry

it's completely irresponsible to make a pirate costume completely out of white silk and velvet, isn't it?

thought so.

so, it's... early July, and MDRF starts late next month. I have no idea how often I'll make it, which blows, as I'm supposed to be working there. Either way... I've got it into my head that I should probably be working on garb for it. But for some stupid reason I can't get myself out of the circle skirt kick that I've managed to snag myself in.

I have a million fucking yards of linen that I may or may not have plans for, and I can't think of a single thing to do with them.

Ok, well, I sort of can. The chocolate brown linen/rayon is probably going to end up as a kirtle for under doublets and such, because I'll have enough left over for a matching pair of sleeves. Same goes for the sunshine yellow.

Should probably make a doublet or something, see where that takes me.

Just One More Drink and I Should Be On My Way

Okay kids.

The big move is done. I have very little fabric to move. The things in random boxes do not intimidate me (this is what I'm telling myself).

I have to be down there through the rest of the week to get the Jive Aces dress done in time for Saturday (as I'll have very little time to work on it on Friday, and no time on Saturday), so I'll be taking pictures of the layout. I may even take a ton of WIP pictures (because I've been meaning to and showing me exactly how much I haven't finished inspires me to get off my ass).

So there's all that.

HOLY FUCK.

The studio MOVE is complete! All the furniture is in it's new home!

there's a bunch of fabric left to go, and then the mammoth task of reorganizing, but holy crap, I have a new workspace.

Pictures will be up... Tuesday or so. I may or may not be conscious on Monday.
